PokeLenz Major Update 2.0 Incoming

Big Changes are Here

Hey everyone,

We’ve been a little quiet lately — and for good reason.

The team has been hunkered down building what might be the biggest PokeLenz update yet, and today we’re finally ready to share it with you.

This release completely upgrades how scanning works, dramatically improves performance, and introduces powerful new ways to browse and manage your collection.

Let’s jump in.

All-New Scanning System

This is the headline feature.

We rebuilt our scanning engine from the ground up — faster, smarter, and way more flexible. To get to the point: it's way better. This new system can handle way more cards, and can handle more disruptions like glare, obstructions and angles. Lighting isn't perfect? Go ahead, it should be able to handle these situations much better.

Scanning should be intuitive and easy, and this new system makes it so. Of course, try your best to reduce glare and get clean images, but this system is definitely a step up. Let's get into what we added.

Batch Scanning

You can now upload up to 5 images in one go, or continously snap up to 5 images at once and batch scan! As always, each image can contain multiple cards, so feel free to snap away at your tables full of cards or your binder pages. Once you have the images taken or uploaded, proceed and the scanner will automatically extract all the cards in each of them. Note that you should make sure you have enough card scans left for all the cards in the image.

It’s faster, smoother, and just makes sense.

Improved Live Mode Scanning

Live mode just got a serious upgrade.

0 - Faster recognition.

0 - More stable detection.

0 - Better accuracy

It's a smoother overall experience and much more reliable. Feel free to point the live scanner at binder pages and even at graded cards and watch the system detect the cards.

Whether you're scanning one card or many, Live Mode now feels snappier and more reliable than ever. We also made it more obvious to users how to toggle settings and bullk addition, as well as how to handle variants.

Massive Performance Upgrades

This update isn’t just about features — it’s about speed.

We made deep performance improvements across the entire app:

0 - Faster scan processing.

0 - Quicker loading times.

0 - Smoother navigation.

0 - More responsive UI

You’ll feel the difference immediately, especially on mid to low spec devices. We've also given many parts o f the app facelifts for a more pleasant and modern experience. Known crashing issues and laggy parts of the app have also been improved.

New Languages

We've added early support for Chinese and Japanese card variants. This however, is in a very limited capacity.

It should be noted that the card scanner does not yet support multi-language scanning. To find these cards, simply search the english name of the set and the name of the card. Again, a disclaimer that these cards are in very limited support and we don't have the entire database. But we decided some is better than none!

Keeping with our principles of transparency, we would also like to preface and say these cards may not be perfect and may be subject to be updated and changed. We're working on adding photos for missing cards and filling out details and pricing, but this is still an early version.

As a result, we've avoided adding direct easy set searching in the search page for these languages. Instead, search the English version of the set name and / or the card name you'd like to add to find them. Thanks for your understanding.

New Gallery Browsing Experience

Your collection deserves better browsing.

We redesigned the gallery to make exploring your cards easier and more enjoyable:

0 - Cleaner layout

0 - Faster scrolling

0 - Improved organization

0 - More intuitive navigation

In the Social Page's Gallery, click the search icon at the top to search for specific pieces, such as artworks featuring Dragonite. As you explore, use the new favoriting system to keep track of art pieces you love! These will be easier to access as well, in the new Favorites tab within the image picker. You can also click the heart icon at the top to view your favorited artworks. Make sure you check out the artists! You can find links within each of the artists' page.

Over-the-Air Updates

This is a big one for staying current.

PokeLenz can now receive new card data over the air — without requiring a full app update.

That means:

0 - New sets can be added faster

0 - Newly released cards can appear sooner

0 - Improvements to card data can roll out instantly

0 - You don’t have to wait on the app store

The result? A more up-to-date experience, all the time. Previously, we were limited by waiting for Apple and Google to approve updates with the new scanning database bundled into the app. This is no longer the case. The app will upon launch check for a new version of the card scanning database, and if available, will download the new cards. This should reduce the delay before scanning by at least a few days. As soon as sets are available, we'll get straight to adjusting and adding them to our scanner reducing the delay that users can scan new sets down to only a day or so.

Built-In Tutorials

New to PokeLenz? Or just want to make sure you’re using every feature?

We added guided tutorials to help you get the most out of the app — especially the new scanning system. We realized that we had implemented so many features for convenience that most users never knew about and were never told about. Our sincerest apologies for the frustration and difficulties this might have caused. Therefore, in most pages in the app, upon first launch a tutorial will play showcasing features and functions. For example, did you know in the wishlist, you can use the auto-calculator to create an optimal set of cards to buy at a certain budget? Many of these features, few users know about and take advantage of. T hese new tutorials should make these things more obvious. Hopefully, this revolutionizes the way you utilize the app.

Whether you're a casual collector or a serious grinder, we’ve got you covered.

And There’s More

This update includes dozens of small refinements, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements that make the entire experience smoother.

Some changes are big and flashy. Others are subtle — but they all add up.

PokeLenz started as a simple way to scan and identify cards.

This update pushes it closer to our bigger vision: making it the fastest, smartest, and most enjoyable way to manage your collection.

We’re incredibly grateful for your feedback, feature requests, and patience while we built this out.

This one was a big lift.

The update will drop sometime the next few days on both Android and iOS.

Jump in, test the new scanning system, try batch mode, explore the new gallery — and let us know what you think.

We’re just getting started.

Thanks for being part of the PokeLenz community.
